YEREVAN (CoinChapter.com) — Cryptocurrency portfolio manager CoinStats has suspended user activity following a security breach that impacted 1,590 crypto wallets. On June 22, the company announced the breach via an X post, stating,

“The attack has been mitigated, and we have temporarily shut down the application to isolate the security incident.”

The breach affected 1.3% of all CoinStats wallets and CoinStats stated that none of the connected wallets and centralized exchanges (CEXes) were impacted.

CoinStats has not disclosed the full extent of the impact. The company promised to provide updates as soon as more information becomes available. On their website, CoinStats emphasized that since they only request read-only access to connected wallets, users’ holdings remain “perfectly safe under any conditions.”

Notably, CoinStats provides a platform for users to connect all their crypto wallets and track their overall portfolio, allowing them to view all their wallets in one place.

Moreover, the company published a Google document listing all currently affected crypto wallets. The list may change as the investigation progresses, but significant changes are not expected. The document states,

“If your wallet address is in this affected list, please move your funds immediately using your exported private key.”

Pseudonymous crypto commentator PPman cautioned,

“Scammers are smart. If your addy is in this list or if you’ve used CoinStats and posted about it, scammers may be trying to reach out to you to ‘help’. Do not trust anyone.”

Crypto Data Breaches Expose User Information

Recently, crypto data aggregator CoinGecko confirmed a data breach involving its third-party email management platform, GetResponse. The breach allowed attackers to access the contact information of over 1.9 million CoinGecko users.

On June 12, Crystal Intelligence reported that the crypto industry has suffered 785 hacks and exploits over the past 13 years, resulting in nearly $19 billion worth of digital assets being stolen since June 19, 2011.
